Review: I was attracted to this film with a bit of fear, based on the trailers and thought of sitting through a predictable Hollywood summer sci-fi blockbuster. It was Guillermo del Toros previous work, which gave me over the threshold (Cronos, Pans Labyrinth). What I is a feast for the eyes and ears that draws inspiration from almost every genre of popular international Hong Kong martial arts horror and gothic Japanese anime, and then adds the unique sensitivity of the director with a unique vision, who knows how to bring it across in a big way . He knows how to go beyond our trust and work with great characters actors, adding to the strong chemistry between its three wires, Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Elbe (very high). Remember all those Japanese monster pictures where huge beasts of the sea and beat Tokyo? Remember Cloverfield? (This film explains that one) Roll all of them with today's effects and Guillermo del Toros strange design sensitivity, and then you say, Let this completely over the top and you get the Pacific Rim.
